The Honorable Marjorie Mahar DerGurahian
President, Troy City Council
City Hall
One Monument Square
Troy, NY 12180
Dear President DerGurahian,
I am writing to express my enthusiastic support of the City of Troy's ongoing
cable franchise negotiations with Time Warner. I believe a successful completion
of these negotiations will generate several benefits for the City of Troy, including:
Extensive technology infrastructure and improved access for residents and businesses.
Better connectivity at a lower cost for municipal government, public schools,
police and firefighters, libraries and other organizations that are heavy users
of local and long distance telephone, Internet and other communications services.
An Institutional Network (I-Net) allows entities like schools, libraries, and
public safety groups to better communicate and share information with one another
and the public. The I-Net will also allow institutions to use access channels
on the cable system for outreach to citizens.
A community media center will help develop a workforce and citizenry with advanced
communication skills and support widespread collaborative opportunities within
the community.
As your constituent, I am asking you to support the cable negotiations and bring
about these positive changes for the City of Troy. Thank you.
Sincerely,
